#SatSpanks From My WIP

Hi Everyone!

It's been a few weeks since I've participated in Sat Spanks. I'm excited to be back!

This snippet is from my current Work In Progress, Lady Katherine's Comeuppance. This is my first historical spanking story and I am having fun writing it (mostly...sigh).

Here's the blurb: Thomas (who still needs a last name. It's a work in progress!) unexpectedly finds himself the Earl of ______ (any suggestions?) after the death of a distant cousin. He travels from his home in America to assume his duties. What he did not anticipate was the presence of his cousin's widow, the beautiful Lady Katherine.

When her husband dies unexpectedly, Lady Katherine finds herself in a most precarious position. Without an heir, she has no claims to her husband's estate or even a promise of support. She is left with her only asset, her beauty. In Regency England where it would be unheard of for a Lady to seek a job other than as a governess or companion, her best option is to find a new husband. Or to get into the good graces of the new Earl.

In this scene, Lord Thomas overhears Lady Katherine tell a friend she intends to secure her position in the household by seducing Lord Thomas. One thing leads to another and Lady Katherine finds herself across Thomas' lap.

“And what have I done to warrant such a punishment?” she said, her breath labored.

“I do not appreciate being manipulated. Had you spoken with me directly about your situation within this household I would have told you that I have no intention of turning you out.” His voice was surprisingly calm despite the fact that his arm had been in continual motion asserting itself against her bare bottom and thighs in a steady stream of spanks which had her bottom red and chafed. “However, you have chosen to use the oldest trick known to man or woman, sex, as a means of getting your way.”

Before she could sort out the questions in her head she found herself unceremoniously dumped back into her bed, the covers replaced and tucked tightly around her.

“When you can behave like a proper lady, I shall show you many improper pleasures which I know your body longs for. But it will be upon my terms. Do you understand me?”

Spanking Stories Book Club

Hi Everyone,

It's the last Friday in May. How did that happen? Seems like I spend all my time wishing for winter to be over and then the warm weather rushes by and I almost feel like I've missed it.

A couple of housekeeping matters. Next Friday we'll start chatting about Coming To Terms. You do have a copy, right? It's a spanking story anthology and we'll be talking about one story per week for seven weeks. We'll do them in the order they appear in the book, so that means Sue Lyndon's Confession Time for June 7.

Since May has 5 Fridays, let's use this as a bonus day to talk about some of the books we've read together and also some of the books we've read on our own. Any suggestions for future book club selections? Any books coming out this summer that look particularly promising?

In January, we read Cara Bristol's Body Politics.

February was Anastasia Vitsky's Desire in Any Language.

Jade Cary's To Love A Woman got us through March.

Sue Lyndon's Rules of War was our April selection, followed by Renee Rose's Devil of Whiskey Row for May.

We've been busy!

We've read about feminists, prostitutes, students, older woman/younger man, and something with a dystopian flare. I'm not sure what dystopian flare means, but it's on Sue Lyndon's blog so I'm using it.

What's left?

Looking back on these books, what scenes jump to mind as memorable?

#Spanking Stories Book Club----F/F and public spanking

It's time---let's talk about THAT scene from The Devil of Whiskey Row. You know the one I mean---it involves two of the other "girls" who work for Daddy Diggs.

If you want to go back and review it's chapter eight. Daddy Diggs has made a gift of his business to Olive, who has been saving for her own brothel featuring spanking. Marie, who has caused many problems for Cora and the others due to her lying and manipulation is now Olive's employee. And she must be punished.

In what I consider to be a very memorable scene, Olive administers a few swats to Marie on the saloon's stage, then auctioned off the privilege of administering the rest of her punishment to the highest bidder.

Take a minute and go back to read the whole scene. It's wonderfully fun and sexy, then come back and tell us what you thought.

Dungeon Time With Kate Richards

Hi Everyone!

Please welcome Kate Richards who is here today to answer my probing questions about her recent release, Dungeon Time.  I'd also like to apologize for not getting this post up sooner, so in order to make it up to Kate, let's all go out and buy a copy of her new book. I mean it. Go.

Dungeon Time is the second in a series called Play At Work. I loved the first book in the series, Spanking Ms. Whitman so I was excited to read Dungeon Time as well and chat with Kate about the two books and other stuff that I feel like talking about.

Celeste Jones: Spanking Ms. Whitman, as the title implies, was a spanking book whereas, Dungeon Time (again as the title implies) is more of a BDSM story. Do you see a difference between the two or are they variations on the same theme?

Kate Richards: I see them as variations. Despite the fact that the spanking in the first story was for punishment, it was more erotic than DD, and in both books, I see the characters (particularly the heroines) as learning what reaches them in a deeply sensual way. Every one of us is different, but the exploration of our needs and desires is there to be experienced.

Celeste Jones: Your series is called Play at Work. With so many disgruntled employees out there, are you on a mission to change the workplace? Have you ever had a relationship with a boss or co-worker?

Kate Richards: Yes, actually…when I was in college I worked at a swimming pool with a lot of others my own age. Those summers were a lot of fun and many of us dated one another. It was a more innocent dating than these stories, but nonetheless did make for interesting times! But I believe dating at work is very common, whether allowed or not.

     Very true.

Celeste Jones: The heroine of Dungeon Time is Anna who is a receptionist at Marks and Company, which was the setting for Spanking Ms. Whitman. However, in Spanking Ms. Whitman the character was named Angie and you explained at the beginning of Dungeon Time that the name was changed in honor of a friend. Would you care to elaborate on why the change and why that name?

Kate Richards: My friend has always teased that she wanted a heroine named after her, and when I named Angie in Spanking Ms. Whitman, I wasn’t thinking that it was her mother’s name. I learned while writing Dungeon Time that my friend’s mother is very ill. I thought it might be the time to honor her request and change the name so the book would cheer her up when she read it, rather than feel sad.

     That's very sweet.

Celeste Jones: To say that you have a lot going on would be a bit of an understatement. You’ve also told me that you are very organized. Any tips you’d like to share for how you get so much done?

Kate Richards: Well, I hope I am organized. I certainly try. I am a managing/senior editor at Decadent Publishing, a co-owner of Wizards in Publishing, and an author…and I have the usual life outside of that, family and friends and another small business for which I am responsible. Without spreadsheets, I’d be doomed. And when I begin to feel overwhelmed, I write To Do lists each day. Checking them off allows me to see what I accomplish and keeps me focused.

Celeste Jones: What’s next for the Play At Work series?

Kate Richards: In Play at Work 3, we enter the world of the big beautiful woman. My heroine is an office manager of a construction company in Malibu, the land of the thin and gorgeous. With a Samoan mother and German father, Jody is an Amazon, tall and statuesque. It takes the right man, with the right mindset, to help her appreciate her beauty.  And yes…the hero is a member of the same dungeon as Edward and Randolph.

Oh good. We chubby girls need good lovin' too. I think this is a great idea.

Celeste Jones: Do the people in your life know about your writing? If so, what were their reactions? And if not, what are some of the challenges of keeping your secret life a secret?

Kate Richards: Everyone knows. I am a fulltime writer and editor, so I don’t have an employer to answer to. But my mother does have the tendency to tell her friends I will be switching genres eventually. In fact, she tells my friends that, too. But she’s proud of me even if she wishes I’d write mysteries—because that is what she likes to read best.

Celeste Jones: Anything else you’d like to say?

Thank you so much for having me. I hope the readers will check out Dungeon Time and let me know what they think. I had it partly written when I had the opportunity to visit a real dungeon and speak with the Doms, Dommes, and subs who were there that night. They were so open and friendly, happy to speak with someone who was interested in what they are passionate about. I believe in research whenever possible and this was invaluable.

Oh, I want more details about that for sure.

 Dungeon Time Blurb and Excerpt

Short Blurb:
Anna Palladino dreams of independence from her over-protective but loving family. Her fantasies, gained from erotic novels, show her possibilities she doesn’t believe extend to real life.  Her limited experience in the bedroom has confirmed her low expectations.
Edward Masters is ready to give up his own fantasy life if that’s what it takes to have the home and family of his dreams. He has set his sights on a sweet, innocent woman who works for his friend and client Randolph Marks. Marks has found the perfect combination of vixen and warm companion in his Mona, but is it too much to hope that Edward and Anna will be the next office romance at Marks and Company? Is the cute, curly haired receptionist ready to take on the desires of a Dom, or has Edward seen his last night of play in the dungeon?

Excerpt:
Edward closed the door with a soft click and approached, Nikes squeaking on the wide oak boards. “I like my comforts.” He stood just behind her, his breath soft on her cheek. “Did you want to take a swim in the pool? The water is warm.”
She shivered, something about the way he said “warm,” implying so much more. “I don’t have a suit with me.”
“Perhaps another time.” He rested his hands on the sill, on either side of her, smooth muscled forearms with a light sprinkling of dark hairs drawing her complete attention, but then he pushed away and left her there, alone with the moonlight glinting off the dark ocean and the swimming pool. “I’ll call for pizza. Pepperoni okay?”
“Yes, fine.” What if he had suggested she swim without a suit? Would she have done it? Not usually, but on the day of her independence, with so many other extraordinary things happening, maybe.
While he ordered their dinner, she focused on the pool, imagining him in there, stroking back and forth with the moon shining on his skin, lighting his hair. Muscles low in her belly tightened and her panties dampened.
“Wine?” He reappeared at her side and handed her a heavy goblet. “I hope you like cabernet.”
Her cheeks heated “I’m surprised you trust me with it, after my behavior earlier.”
Edward rested a hand on her waist and turned her away from the window. “Oh, yes. Not a good policy, getting tipsy during the work day.” He took her arm and led her to one of the deep sofas, against the side wall. “You were a bad girl.”
Reckless with freedom, she giggled. “Yes, I was. Someone should take me in hand before I run completely amok.”
“I think I’d like to see what you’re like, running amok.” Drawing her down at his side in the deep cushions, Edward took the glass from her hand and set it on a side table.
“Wait, I didn’t have any yet.”
“Before you do, I want to taste you. Then you may have your wine back.”
She tipped her head back and licked her lips. Taste me? Edward smoothed her hair from her face and cupped her chin. He held her gaze, his eyes alight with a gleam that sent a thrill of fright and arousal right to her core. I am so out of my depth with this man. Coherence fled when his lips descended on hers. No softness, no giving, only taking. His tongue parted her lips and plundered her mouth, circling, dancing, and retreating, stroking against her own; rough velvet that left no part of her sane.

Spanking Stories Book Club---Talking About The Devil of Whiskey Row

It's been a busy week but thanks for stopping by to talk some more about The Devil of Whiskey Row by Renee Rose.

While looking back through the book for some chat topics, I came across this passage from Jake's point of view.

Spanking was not overly painful, but it was humbling for the recipient. For the disciplinarian, it was an act of dominance, a declaration of power.

For me, one of the trickiest parts of writing a spanking story----humbling without humiliating.

I found this definition of humiliate: to reduce to a lower position in one's own eyes or others' eyes

And here are a couple definitions of humble: 1 not proud or haughty : not arrogant or assertive
2
: reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission

I had never looked at the definitions of the two words. I guess I sort of thought that humiliation was one of those "I'll know it when I see it" things. And I still think that is true. We had a discussion a few weeks ago about a scene where the woman was made to crawl to the man. Some people thought it was hot, others thought it crossed a line. There is also the distinction of what you might like to read about vs. what you'd be willing to do in real life.

So, this isn't exactly about the book, though feel free to chime in about the book too, but what are your thoughts on humble vs. humiliate? What are some things that cross the line for you?

Release Day for Coming To Terms

Wooohooo! It's finally here! Release day for Coming to Terms

the spanking fiction anthology which includes stories by

In honor of our big release day all the writers are sharing an excerpt from their  story, so be sure to visit all the blogs...after you finish here.

My story, Reconnecting, is about Daisy and Reece, who you may remember from Underwear Probation, as they come to terms with Daisy's excessive internet usage.

As you may have heard, my story includes references to some of our favorite friends here in blogland. When I decided to write about too much time spent online (is it possible?) I started making up names for blogs and bloggers and then I thought: Why should I do that when the real thing is so much better? I contacted a few folks and they agree to allow me to use their names and blogs in my story. What an honor it is that they gave me the go ahead without even asking to read what I'd written first. I hope I've done them proud.
I'm thrilled to share with all of you my favorite scene.

Thwack!
Reece’s hand came down hard on her right cheek.  “How many blog posts did you read tonight?”
“I-I don’t know.”  Daisy felt unsure about what or how to answer.
“Well, why don’t you start naming them and we’ll count.”  He swatted her backside again with a resounding smack.
“U-um.  There was ‘My Bottom Smarts’.”
“I bet it does.”  Reece cracked into her right cheek again.
“And ‘Redbooty Woman’.”  Daisy strained to concentrate on an answer and talk while her butt burned from the onslaught of Reece’s firm hand.
            “Sounds appropriate. What else?”
            “’B-bright Bottom’.”
“Are you making these names up”?  Reece accused.
“N-no.  They’re real blogs.  ‘My Bottom Smarts’ is run by Bonnie, and she’s super nice, and ‘Redbooty Woman’ is Christina, and she’s been awfully sweet to me, and ‘Bright Bottom’ is Spanky’s blog---“
            “Spanky?”
“I assume it’s not his real name.”  Daisy glanced over her shoulder at Reece and made a face.
“What do you suppose Spanky would say about a woman who is so focused on reading spanking blogs, that she misses three phone calls from her husband?”  Reece landed three hard swats to the upturned curve of her buttocks.
Daisy pictured the photos Spanky liked to post of women with chafed rears standing in the corner.  “He seems big on corner time.”  She wondered if she might have been better off keeping her mouth shut.
“Spanky sounds like a smart man.”  Reece finished up with a volley of spanks to the center of her fanny, then raised her up from his lap and pointed her to a corner of their bedroom.
With her pants and panties still around her knees, she hobbled to the corner and assumed the position. While she stood there with her hands on her head and her stinging red bottom exposed, she wondered if perhaps she might have spent just a tiny bit too much time online.

Be sure to visit all the other writers' blogs today to read excerpts from their stories.

And, as a special bonus, be sure to visit My Bottom Smarts, Redbooty Woman and Bright Bottom. Maybe you can get an autograph!

Spanking Stories Book Club---The Devil Of Whiskey Row

In The Devil of Whiskey Row, Jake "Daddy Diggs" Diggory is the owner of a brothel. He doesn't have sex with any of his "girls", but he does spank them when he believes they need to be disciplined.

This raises an issue that I've noticed in several books, many by Renee Rose so maybe she can weigh in on this too: a male hero who disciplines multiple women with spanking but once he develops a relationship with the heroine, she wants him to only spank her. That happens in this book and also in Pleasing The Colonel and some others (I think Courting Celia?).
My point: spanking starts out as discipline and something the heroine does not want, yet over time she views it differently and wants the hero to only spank her and not other women.

What is this change? Does spanking go from just punishment to something intimate? A sign of affection or care?

Am I the only one who thinks this is noteworthy?

                                What do you think?

Here's an issue that's only in this book, but was brought up in last week's discussion. What do you think about Jake "allowing" Cora to continue to service customers after they have been together?

I know I haven't been around for a few Friday discussions, but I'm here today so let's talk!

Spanking Stories Book Club---The Devil of Whiskey Row

Yee-Haw! It's May and that means we're going from the future on the east coast (Rules of War) to the past on the West Coast: The Devil of Whiskey Row.

What qualifies a story as a Western? Does it have to have a cowboy in it? Or just a man with a cowboy attitude and an ass that you know looks good in jeans?

Here's the blurb from Amazon: Forced by miserable circumstance to work in a gold rush brothel, Cora Underhill hates what her life has become. When a fire sweeps through her workplace, she welcomes death as an end to it all. But then Jake Diggory crashes through her window for an unwelcome rescue, offering her shelter and a paid position at his establishment. She accepts, in spite of Jake's fearsome reputation as 'The Devil Diggory', and soon sees another side to Jake--the firm but caring side of him which led his girls to name him 'Daddy Diggs'.

Life at Daddy Diggs' is an entirely new experience for Cora. Jake has strict rules which he backs up with over the knee discipline, but he will not tolerate any mistreatment of his girls and he can go from playing beautiful music on a piano to defending them with his bare fists. The strangest thing of all, however, is the fact that every girl at Daddy Diggs' swears that Jake has never slept with her, or with any other woman for that matter, since his fiancée's death back in Ireland fifteen years ago.

Cora attempts to emulate the other prostitutes at Daddy Diggs', who enjoy making money, holding power over men and even the act of sex, but she still finds no pleasure in the company of men--until the day she inadvertently arouses the passion of The Devil Diggory.  His fierce lovemaking thaws some frozen part of her, but it seems Jake is only attracted to her because she resembles his dead fiancée. Confused by his new feelings for Cora and guilt over his broken vow of celibacy, Jake pushes Cora away. Can he come to terms with his past and claim Cora for his own, or will his grief keep them apart forever?

Publisher's Note: The Devil of Whiskey Row is an erotic romance novel that includes both consensual and non-consensual spankings, anal play, exhibitionism, graphic sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

So, this isn't your traditional western where the virginal schoolmarm gets all hot and bothered when she meets the fresh faced cowhand.

What is it about Westerns that appeal to us, even modern day Westerns are hot sellers. Is it the myth of the Marlboro Man---dark, brooding, and waiting for love? The tough guy with the heart of gold?

A couple questions before we did into this yummy book.

1. Are you a fan of Westerns? Why or why not?
2. What are your thoughts on a whore house as the setting for a romance?
3. Anything else you'd like to mention before we get going?
